Privacy policy

The short version. When Wit makes a remark, he sends one screenshot of your active display and some light context to Anthropic's Claude to write it. Wit's server passes that along and does not store it. Keystrokes are only counted, never recorded. We keep a random device ID, your license status and daily remark counts. No ads, no data selling, no analytics trackers in the app.
1. Who we are
Wit is made by Nebula Games GmbH, Switzerland ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at community@nebulagames.ch.
This policy covers the Wit desktop app for Windows, Wit's server, and this website.
2. What happens when Wit makes a remark
Wit only looks while you are actively using your computer with real hardware input. Each time he makes a remark, the app collects:
- One screenshot of your active display.
- Light context: the name of the foreground app and its window title; how much time you spent in each app over the last 10 minutes; counts of keys pressed, erases, clicks and scrolls; the length of your current session; and Wit's own recent lines (so he doesn't repeat himself).
Wit Pro and the free trial. The screenshot and context are sent to Wit's server, which forwards them to Anthropic's API to generate the remark and returns the remark to your app. Wit's server does not store the screenshot or the context.
Wit Own-Key. If you use your own Anthropic API key, the request goes directly from your computer to Anthropic using your key. It does not pass through Wit's server. Your API key is stored encrypted on your device using Windows DPAPI (via Electron's safeStorage).
Anthropic. Anthropic processes this data as our (or, for Own-Key, your) API provider under its commercial terms. See Anthropic's Commercial Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for how Anthropic handles API data.
3. When Wit does not take screenshots
- When the foreground window matches the blocklist: password managers, private or incognito browsing windows, and banking or brokerage apps. You can edit this list.
- While you are away from the computer.
- While Wit is hushed.
- While a fullscreen app or game is in front.
- While input is coming from AI agents or automation rather than from you.
4. Keystrokes
Wit never records which keys you press. He only keeps counts (for example, how many keys and how many erases). These counts never leave your device except as the aggregate numbers included in the context described in section 2.

The server does not store screenshots, window titles, app names, keystroke counts or the remarks themselves.
6. Data on your device
Wit keeps its settings and a log of his own remarks in %APPDATA%\Wit on your computer. This stays on your device. You can open or delete it at any time; uninstalling Wit and removing that folder removes it.
7. Payments
Purchases are handled by Stripe (checkout, VAT and sales tax, receipts). Stripe processes your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy. After checkout, Wit's server confirms the purchase with Stripe and creates your license key. We store the key (hashed), the plan, your Stripe customer and subscription reference and the PCs it is activated on (as random device IDs). We never see your full card details.
8. What we don't do
- No advertising.
- No selling or renting of your data.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs in the app.
9. Legal bases (EEA/UK)
We process data to perform our contract with you (providing remarks, licensing and quotas), and for our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and preventing abuse (transient IP-based rate limiting).
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. To exercise these rights, email community@nebulagames.ch. Because the server only knows a random device ID, please include the device ID shown in the app or your license key so we can find your records.
11. International transfers
Wit's server and Anthropic may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
12. Children
Wit is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
13. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for material changes, tell you in the app or on this site.
